Sara's adoption decree was signed today!
We left home last night for a 3 hour trip to Marlborough and stayed at a Holiday Inn nearby, along with Joe's parents. We woke up early this morning, got ready and arrived at a beautiful town building at 8:30 a.m. Sara's attorney, Karen, was already there waiting for us. We waited for about 15 minutes until we were called into the judge's chambers. The ceremony was very informal and the Judge was very friendly and laid back. Everything went very fast and much quicker than we ever imagined. Joe's father video taped the whole process and the tape is 5 minutes, 20 seconds long. But what really matters is that today was a very important day in Sara's life. And for us, as parents, it is great to know that the adoption red tape is all over with and that from this point on we will have extra time to enjoy our lives as parents. |
